A week of east winds and now south wind had made the bite close to Oswego quite challenging. Each day we take a salmon or two along with a handful of lake trout but the southwest corner of the big pond has rolled and surface temps plummeted from mid 70's to upper 40's. Can you say iced out!
There is literally no thermocline but it appears that will change soon as strong west NW winds are predicted for the weekend.
Smallmouth bass have taken cover in the Harbor and that bite is on fire. Tubes, rubber worms, jigs, and nightcrawlers will get it done.
Deep water is producing an odd fish as well but with no consistency. If you really want fish like today or tomorrow head to the north dunes and troll north in 140 FOW. All the lakers you want and kings are mixed in. This too will change very soon and I predict all the salmon that have been hanging to our west and north will begin to find their away home very soon. Stay safe and Best Fishes!
